Two-piece Omnibus Sectional Sofa by Vladimir Kagan, USA, c. 1975. Loose seat and back cushions filled with a down blend make these pieces exceptionally comfortable. Upholstered in the original Jack Lenor Larsen burnt-orange velvet. Sofas appear to float on Lucite plinths. The 85” section has a completely curved back and the 106” section is at a 45 degree angle, forming a wide V-shape. Marked with manufacturers tags, "Vladimir Kagan Designs Inc." Set of Three Large Wall-hanging Resin Seashell Sculptures/Sconces by Tony Duquette, USA, c. 1970’s. Cast from an enormous clam shell, these resin sculptures retain all the texture and subtleties of the shell they were cast from. When lit from behind, the translucent quality of the resin diffuses the light for a glowing, dramatic effect. All three shells are identically shaped and textured with differences in color, one significantly darker than the other two. Surprisingly lightweight and fitted with hanging wires. A rare set of six Gazelle dining chairs by Dan Johnson, two arm and four side chairs, USA 1956. Each chair hand wrought and finished of gold colored aluminum with caned seats and backs. The Gazelle line by Johnson was entirely hand made in Italy at Dan Johnson Studio. Due to extremely high production costs, and the intense hand labor involved, fewer than 150 pieces of the Gazelle line were ever completed. This set of six is a rare opportunity to acquire Johnson's elegant and expressive Gazelle chairs, model numbers 10A and 20A.

“Itten’s photograph from 1920 portrays a man who appears to be disciplined, serious and determined. His unusual appearance might be puzzling: the shaved head of a priest, the self designed robes. But it all fits into the picture of this early master at the Bauhaus.Itten joined it in October 1919 teaching the preliminary course. His focus lay in the study of objects and materials, analysis of Old Masters and life drawing. He was aware of the newly established educational reform theory and was familiar with the artists of avant-garde. In more practical terms this meant that he wanted his students to find their inner being and develop a well tuned personality. He started his class with breathing exercises and gymnastics and let his students decide whose work was the best. People either admired him or hated him profoundly.Nontheless he was quite rightly described as the backbone of the Bauhaus. His ‘Vorkus’, the preliminary course, was continued in a very similar style even after he left the institution. It is said that it was his passion for the development of the individual which eventually led to a fall out with Walter Gropius, the director of the Bauhaus. The latter was of the opinion that commercial work was essential to keep the school individualism. Itten eventually founded his own school in Berlin in 1926, known later as the Itten School.”

New York, Circa 1938 A set of three sofas designed by Tommi Parzinger for Lawrence Rockefeller circa 1938. The sofas all on curved mahogany saber legs, each with low back and tight upholstered seat and back with brass nail head trim. The leather new in “parzinger blue.” The sofas demonstrate Parzinger’s early design aesthetic described in a 1938 review in the New York Times as “simple forms, modern because they are reduced to their simplest element, but graceful because of the delicately curved lines.” These sofas from the Rockefeller home in Tarrytown, New York are documented with Parzinger vanity and chair from the same period. The sofas all in perfect restored condition, one settee is a custom replica. Outstanding Paul Evans Argente cabinet custom studio piece, model PE-43. Boldly signed “PAUL EVANS 70.” The Argente series of sculpted aluminum furniture is the rarest genre of Evan’s work. Inspired by Art Nouveau and the psychedelic times in which it was created this group of silver and black furniture with heavily decorated and sculpted surface was so difficult to produce that the line was offered only briefly and represents some of Evans most evocative and beautiful work of the late 1960s. Each piece is totally unique. This cabinet features curved inside doors and a completely hand painted wood interior in amber striations with one permanent and three adjustable shelves.
A beautiful mulit-colored "Rondelay" glass screen by the Higgins studio. This screen has sixty-multi-colored fused glass discs of graduated size in shades of blue, green, orange and yellow.

A demilune form console with a white marble top and exquisitely carved apron in bamboo motif, legs and base; all finished with Mont's expertly executed camouflage silver and gold leaf over cinnabar basecoat. A classic look with a modern twist. The "camo" technique was one of the most labor intesive and time consuming for the craftspeople at James Mont Design.
Each elegant base of silvered-bronze with arched swivel legs and delicate foliate design support a beveled-edge 3/4" glass slab top. Silver is patinated but can be buffed to a brighter finish if desired.
A large sideboard in two sections, the top section contains a smoked mirrored panel behind an angled shelving unit with a recessed central panel embellished with applied carved flowers and birds finished in a silver and gold leaf camouflage pattern, this is flanked by an open frame comprising round shelves with a key pattern relief on the edges and finished in gold leaf. The appliques were hand carved by one of Mont's expert craftsman he employed in his workshop. Supporting the mirrored shelving unit is a silver leaf cabinet comprising two wide drawers flanked by two doors, with two round Asian style pulls in gold leaf. Burned in mark James Mont Design.
A macassar case comprising two doors concealing five adjustable glass shelves over a glass with wooden frame drop front concealing six shelves all above two doors. All supported by ebonized mahogany legs, finished with brass hardware and French polish lacquer. Signed with metal tag “E. ORNA Mobili D’Arte Cantu”.

Cathedral Table by Silas Seandel

An early example of Seandel's Cathedral Table he started producing around 1975. The brass/bronze base consists of cylinder shapes welded together in the cylinder shapes of varying heights. Seandel then deftly manipulates his welding torch to create the rough look on the edges.

Neoclassical inspired daybed by Maison Jansen in brushed steel with bronze details. The bed has large curule-forms at the head and base and four small curule-forms on each side of the frame. Illustrated in Elle Decor, September 2006, from the collection of R. Krakoff.
Orange Lacquered and Faux Snakeskin Console by Arthur Elrod, c. 1965. This piece was designed for a client’s home in Rancho Mirage, CA. While its size is modest, the blending of texture and vibrant color, typical of Elrod’s style, epitomizes the lifestyle of the groovy sixties and laid-back California living. Elrod often pulled from the desert environment he lived and worked in to design his interiors and furniture; he used a lot of color—bright and muted—and his textures entice touch.
Custom console by Michael Coffey, 2008. Coffey produced this curvaceous console with carved ridges that are nearly four inches deep in some areas. He always uses the traits of the wood—its color and grain—to design each piece. This piece is made from African Mozambique, which Coffey loves for its wide range of colors. Inspired by the natural wear of river rocks.

Very Rare Pole Lamp
USA, c. 1965
Very Rare pole lamp by Paul Evans, circa 1965. Only a dozen of these lamps were ever produced due to the challenge of welding three sides. It is the only lamp with the cross bar structure. Both the vertical and horizontal pieces are constructed of cut, welded, patinated and gilt steel.
A unique custom chaise lounge by Phillip Lloyd Powell, c. 1960. This unique chaise has a wooden frame with turned feet and back supports finished in a colorful blend of burnt umber and fuchsia lacquer and silverleaf. The frame, back and pillow are upholstered in metallic silver leather, the seat cushion in purple ultra suede. A rope system adjusts the back for reclining. Powell typically drew his inspiration from his travels abroad; this piece is reminiscent of an Indian palace. Designed for the Berman’s of Allentown, PA and is signed on the frame Phillip Lloyd Powell Made for H. Berman Allentown, PA.
A pair gilt dressers and mirrors by James Mont, c. 1950s. The dressers have an undercoat mixture of crimson and black that permeates through a thin layer of antiqued gold metal leaf. A gilt bamboo appliqué and molding graces the top panels on the front, left and right side. Two drawers each have one circular Asian styled pull that completes the piece. The mirrors have gilt bamboo appliqués at the top and bottom of the frame; the frame is finished in an antique gold metal leaf with a crimson and black undercoat that creates a warm glow.

A large custom smoked mirror in vintage early 20th century frame designed and produced by James Mont for the King Cole Penthouse in Miami, Florida in 1963. The smoked mirror is of exceptional quality surrounded by a beautiful antiqued gold leaf frame. Mont was known for using antique and found objects in his creations and this is a dramatic example of his decorative work. This mirror will add a substantial dose of mystery and glamour to any interior.
The lamp is a champagne color with canes of thick white glass that twists around the entire base. Speckles of gold are imbedded into the entire base. The lamp's original finial has the same champagne color and twist, but without the caning.

An early 1968 signed Paul Evans table or desk with glass top. The two large crescent-shaped bases are of patchwork polychromed welded steel with red, gold and blue-green patina and brazed brass decoration. Welded and brazed motifs are stars, swirls and geometric patterns as well as a large welded signature PE 1968. The decoration is random, asymmetric and artfully applied. Original oval glass top.

In excellent original condition this dramatic entrance or foyer cabinet epitomizes the dark elegance of designer James Mont. A tall slender single door cabinet with adjustable shelves in ebonized and cerused oak features a lit glass-top that up-lights a heavily smoked scalloped wall-mounted mirror. The effect is pure drama that only Mont could create – works beautifully in a very small space.
A patinated silver-leaf Dining Table by James Mont, c 1950s in excellent original finish. The table is round with two leaves to extend it to an oval shape to seat six. The four legs are an open elongated key form. Finished in Mont’s signature patinated silver leaf technique of silver applied over a black base coat, then hand rubbed to create a serrated finish. An elegant dining table for a small space.

A Smoked mirrored console by James Mont, c 1950s, features hand carved Caryatid side supports and scrolled pulls. The cabinet has a wide inverted V-shaped front with two caryatid supports on either end, two doors that open to cabinets with adjustable shelves. Smoked mirror top, side and doors are framed in Mont’s signature patinated silver leaf finish over maroon and black.

A small pale green and clear glass chandelier by Venini. Carlo Scarpa designed this piece for Venini, which comprises approximately 34 hand-blown glass polyhedral shades in a round flat bottomed form that is perfect for a small dining table or entrance hall. Stamped Venini.

Wanscher is one of the most highly-regarded and influential designers and educators in Denmark. Wanscher taught architecture at the illustrious Royal Academy of Art in Copenhagen for nearly two decades. He guided the careers of many of the most import Danish designers and published many influential texts. Wanscher was influenced by sources as diverse as ancient Egypt, the Vienna Secession and the traditional Danish tradition of cabinet making.
