Gio Ponti (b 1891-1979)
Italian architect/designer who founded one of the most important design magazines in modern history -- DOMUS. He was a faculty member of the school of architecture at the prestigious Milan Polytechnic and practiced architecture and design professionally with Alberto Rosselli. As a leading and prominent design magazine editor he kept on the design pulse of the time and produced some of the most memorable furniture and accessories for the leading companies of Italy.
Magnificent, one of a kind console by Gio Ponti. Nearly nine feet in length, crafted of cherry, with red marble top. Tapering legs end in nickled brass sabot. Glass shelf runs the entire length of the console. Made by Ponti’s master craftsman Giordano Chiesa. Authenticated by the Gio Ponti Archives, sold with certificate of authenticity.
Beautiful pair of walnut dressers by Gio Ponti for M. Singer & Sons, c.1957. Four drawers with asymmetrical walnut pulls on tapering legs. Top two drawers divided, with a sliding caddy. Magnificent book matched case in a subtle herringbone pattern. A fine example of Ponti's refined elegance. Signed with Importers tag, "M. Singer & Sons".
Newly polished with a hand rubbed french polish finish.
